The protection of personal data is important to MEK GmbH. We want you to know when we store which data and how we use it. We naturally comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG-new) and will only collect and process personal data to the extent described in this data protection policy.

This data protection policy also fulfils our obligation to inform you in accordance with Art. 13 GDPR.

1.    Definitions

The data protection policy of MEK GmbH uses terms defined in Art. 4 GDPR. Our data protection policy should be easy to read and understand. In order to guarantee this, we would like to explain in advance the terms used. We use the following terms in this data protection privacy, among others:

a) Personal data
Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (hereafter"data subject"). An identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more specific characteristics expressing the physical, physiological, genetic, psychological, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.

b) Person concerned
Data subject means any identified or identifiable natural person whose personal data are processed by the controller.

c) Processing
Processing means any operation or set of operations which are carried out with or without the aid of automated processes and which relate to personal data, such as collection, recording, organization, sorting, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or association, qualification, erasure or destruction.

d) Limitation of processing
Limitation of processing is the marking of stored personal data with the aim of limiting their future processing.

e) Data controller
The controller is a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data. The data controller must ensure the permissibility of data processing through the use of technical and organisational measures that are regularly reviewed.

f) Consent
Consent shall mean any voluntary, informed and unambiguous expression by the data subject of his or her will in the particular case, in the form of a statement or other unequivocal confirmatory act, indicating that he or she consents to the processing of his or her personal data.

g) IP address
An IP address is an address in computer networks. The addresses uniquely identify the devices and enable the devices to communicate with each other.

h) Web browser
A web browser is a program with which you can call up and display web pages.

4. Processing of personal data when visiting our website

In principle, you can use our website without entering any personal data. Each time you access our website, your web browser sends usage data. This includes your IP address and a description of the content retrieved (URL). Without the collection of the IP address of the accessing computer and the designation of the retrieved file, it would be impossible to establish a connection to our server and use the corresponding online service.

In addition, we store the following data after you leave the site:

  • Name of the retrieved file
  • Date and time of retrieval
  • Status as to whether the retrieval was successful
  • Amount of data gtransferred

For security reasons, this usage data is stored for 4 weeks in order to be able to track cases of misuse of our website. Our online service contains links to other websites. We have no influence on whether their operators comply with data protection regulations.

4.1 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. ("Google"). The use is based on Art. 6 para. 1 (f) GDPR. Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site.

This includes information such as:

  • Browser type/version
  • Operating system used
  • Name of the file retrieved
  • IP address of the accessing computer
  • Date and time of retrieval

The information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The IP address transmitted by your web browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other data from Google. We have also added the code "anonymizeIP" to Google Analytics on this website. This guarantees the masking of your IP address so that all data is collected anonymously. Only in exceptional case is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.

On behalf of MEK GmbH, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services to website operators relating to website activity and internet usage. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.
The data sent by us and linked to cookies, user IDs or advertising IDs are automatically deleted after 14 months. Data whose retention period has been reached is automatically deleted once a month. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. In addition, you can prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of this site and Google from processing this data by downloading and installing the web browser plugin available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

4.2 Google Maps

We use Google Maps, a map service of Google Inc. ("Google").  To use the functions of Google Maps, it is necessary to store your IP address. This information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. MEK GmbH has no influence on this data transfer. The use of Google Maps is in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offer and an easy retrievability of the places indicated by us on the website. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR. 4.3 Google Web Fonts

This website uses unified web fonts, which are provided by Google, for the uniform representation of font and layout. When calling up the pages, your web browser loads the required web fonts into memory in order to display texts and fonts correctly. The web browser you are using will connect to Google's servers for this purpose, whereby Google will gain knowledge that our website has been accessed via your IP address. The use of the Google Web Fonts is in the interest of a uniform and appealing presentation of our online offer and represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR. 4.4 Google AdWords Conversion Tracking

This website uses Google AdWords, an online advertising program of Google Inc. ("Google"). Within the framework of Google AdWords, we use the conversion tracking. When you click on an ad placed by Google, a cookie is set. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of how ads lead to our website. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and do not serve the personal identification of the users. If the user visits certain pages of this website and the cookie has not expired, Google and we may recognize that the user previously clicked on the ad and was directed to that page. Conversion tracking is carried out in the interest of analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both the website and advertising and constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 (f) GDPR. 4.5 Cookies

In addition to the mentioned data, cookies are also stored in your web browser during or after your visit to our website. These are small text files that can be sent from a website to the web browser and stored and returned by the browser. They are primarily used to make our online services more user-friendly and effective. If you wish to prevent the use of cookies, your web browser offers the option of preventing the acceptance and storage of new cookies. Cookies serve to inform us about the use of the contents of the website and about the usage habits of our visitors. The legal basis for the processing of personal data using cookies is Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR.

4.6 Google reCAPTCHA

This website uses reCAPTCHA of Google Inc. ("Google") to verify the data input by the user. The purpose of reCAPTCHA is to check whether the data input in our contact form is made by a human being or by an automated program. For analysis purposes, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information (IP address, length of stay of the website visitor on the website or mouse movements made by the user). The data collected during the analysis is forwarded to Google. The verification of the data entry serves to protect against automated entries and attacks and thus increases the security of the website. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 (f) DS-GVO. 5. Processing of personal data within the framework of establishing contact

The processing of personal data depends on the contact method. A distinction can be made between making contact by e-mail, by contact form, by fax/letter or telephone.

5.1 E-mail

When you contact us by e-mail, the data transmitted by you (e.g. surname, first name, address), at least the e-mail address, and the information contained in the e-mail, including any personal data transmitted by you, will be processed on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) DS-GVO for the purpose of establishing contact and processing your request.

In addition, the following data is collected by the system:

  • IP address of the calling computer
  • Date and time of the e-mail

5.2 Contact form

If you use the contact form for communication, it is necessary to state your name and first name as well as your e-mail address and will be processed on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR for the purpose of establishing contact and processing your request. Without this data, your request transmitted via the contact form cannot be processed. We would like to point out that the information transmitted via the contact form may also contain personal data.

In addition, the following data is collected by the system:

  • IP address of the calling computer
  • Date and time of transmission

5.3 Fax/Letters

If you write a fax or letter to MEK GmbH, the data transmitted by you (e.g. surname, first name, address) and the information contained in the fax or letter, including any personal data transmitted by you, will be processed on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR for the purpose of establishing contact and processing your request.

5.4 Telephone

If you contact us by telephone, your personal data will be processed on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR to the extent necessary to process your request.

If you use one of the aforementioned contact channels, the data transmitted by you will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose of its collection. If statutory retention periods exist, the data will be deleted routinely after the expiry of the period, unless it is necessary for initiating or fulfilling a contract.

6. What rights do you have?

If your personal data is processed, you are a data subject as defined by the GDPR. The General Data Protection Regulation guarantees certain rights that you can assert against us - provided that the legal requirements are met.

We have defined processes within MEK GmbH so that you can exercise your rights with us. You have the right to do so,

a) Revoke consent.
b) To receive information about your data stored with us.
c) That incorrect data about you will be corrected by us.
d) That no longer required data about you will be deleted by us.
e) That under certain conditions the processing of your data will be restricted. This may be the case, for example, if deletion is not possible, the data may not be further processed.
f) That your data is transferable. This right applies in particular if you have given your consent to the processing of your data or if the processing of the data is necessary in order to fulfil a contract.
g) Complain to a supervisory authority.

If you consider that the processing of your data is in breach of the law, you may complain to a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State in which you are staying, at your place of work or at the place where the alleged infringement was committed. You have the right to object at any time, for reasons connected with your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is necessary for a legitimate interest on our part or in the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority. If you file an objection, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can prove compelling reasons for processing worthy of protection which outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the assertion, exercise or defence of legal claims. We would like to point out that in certain cases we may request additional information from you in order to establish your identity. For example, when we exercise our right to information, we can ensure that information is not disclosed to unauthorized persons.

7. Changes

Against the background of constant technical change, we may have to update the data protection policy at regular intervals. The current version is available online.
